Shelby Johnson is a Certified Personal Trainer, certified by the National Academy of Sports Medicine. She trains in fitness classes, Small Group Private Training and One on One Personal Training and specializes in Strength and Condition with athletes.
Shelby was born and raised in Parker, Colorado where she lived until she moved to Provo to attend BYU. She received her bachelor’s degree in Exercise and Wellness with a minor in Business.
Shelby has participated in sports her whole life and had always enjoyed being outdoors. She excelled primarily in Lacrosse where she had the opportunity of playing lacrosse on the BYU Women’s Lacrosse team. She was the team captain both her Junior and Senior year. After graduating, she was offered the position as the strength and conditioning coach for the lacrosse team. During this time, she also taught RIPPED and SPIN classes at the Provo Rec Center. Shelby went on to becoming the head coach for the BYU Women’s Lacrosse team for 3 years and the head coach for a competitive, high school team called Liberty for 4 years. She recently resigned in both positions so she could focus more on personal training at Elevate and still runs strength and conditioning programs for competitive sports teams throughout Utah County.
Due to her large interest in sports, the physiology of the human body always fascinated Shelby. At a young age she always understood that what she ate and how hard she trained would affect the way her body performed and the way she felt. She was determined to help others, athletes or not, understand their bodies more and learn to love them.
Shelby loves sharing her passion for training with those around her. She is continually learning more each day and finding new ways to help inspire and motivate her clients. She understands that each client’s needs are personal. Therefore, she caters to the needs of her individual clients and is dedicated to changing their lives so they can live happy and healthy.
